In 2003, Makes & Partners received the Law
Firm of the Year Award from the Indonesian legal
magazine Legal Review (Business Media
LLC).
As reported in the Asian Wall Street
Journal on December 16, 2002, the BCA and Indosat
transactions are the two, single largest sales
of an Indonesian company to a foreign investor since
the 1997 – 1998 Asian financial crisis.
As per the records of the International
Financial Law Review, Makes & Partners is one of the few
Indonesian law firms to be nominated in three
consecutive years for its Asian Legal Deal of the Year
Award.

Makes & Partners was one of the finalists in the BMW Asia ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2009 in the following categories: (i) "Indonesia Deal Firm of the Year" and (ii) "Asset & Corporate Finance Deal of the Year".
Our Partners have also received individual recognitions. Our Managing Partner, Mr. Yozua Makes, was recently nominated for the 2009 Asialaw Leading Lawyers Award in the Practice area of Project Finance, and our Senior Partner, Mr. Iwan Setiawan, was nominated for the same award in the practice area of Capital Markets/Corporate Finance.
In the Indonesia section of the 2010 edition of International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 1000,
Makes & Partners ranked in Tier 1 in the practice area of capital markets, and as a top-tiered
firm in the following practice areas: banking, mergers & acquisitions, restructuring & insolvency,
and project finance.
Chambers Asia 2009 of Chambers & Partners recently affirmed Makes & Partners ’ status as an Indonesian
law firm of excellence.
In 2008, the IBU Coal Mine Private Financing Deal, in which Makes & Partners advised the Placement Agent,
was recognized as the Project Finance Deal of the Year for 2008 by the Asian Legal Business (ALB). This was the first greenfield coal financing in Asia valued at US$ 135 million backed by private investor funds
and involved structured equity-linked notes featuring a detachable convertible equity.
In 2008, our Managing Partner, Mr. Yozua Makes, and Senior Partner, Mr. Iwan Setiawan, were nominated for the 2008 Asialaw (member of Euromoney Asia publishing) Leading Lawyers Trophy in the practice area of Corporate Finance, Capital Market, Mergers and Acquisitions.
Mr. Yozua Makes recently joined a panel of highly selected authors of the Mergers and Acquisitions Review published by Law Business Research Ltd, London. He is the sole contributor of articles on Mergers and Acquisitions in Indonesia for years 2008, 2009 and 2010.
In 2007, the First REIT, in which Makes & Partners was the Indonesian legal advisor to the Issuer, won the Mundial Award as the Equity Capital Market Deal of the Year for 2007 by the Asian Legal Business (ALB).
Makes & Partners was nominated as finalist in the following four distinguished categories by Asian Legal Business in 2007 and the Asian Counsel in 2008 (January/February issue); (i) Project Finance Deal of the Year, (ii) Asset & Corporate Finance Deal of the Year, (iii) Equity Market Deal of the Year, and (iv) Indonesian Deal Firm of the Year.
